Arizona Cannabis Dispensary POS & Payments
Dual medical & adult-use workflows, ADHS-ready compliance records, cashless payments, and the analytics a mature market demands.
An Award-Winning Dispensary POS Built for Arizona Retailers
Arizona is one of the few adult-use states with no state-contracted seed-to-sale tracking system, which means all data lives in the software you choose. Dispensary operators are thus responsible for everything from purchase limit enforcement to the five-year audit logs.
Cova POS + Payments is an award-winning cannabis POS and dispensary management platform supporting 2,200+ retailers across North America, and yes - we serve Arizona. Cova handles medical and adult-use in the same store with correct tax treatment and separate purchase limits on every transaction, automates THC equivalency and limit calculations, keeps ADHS-ready records without the manual overhead.
"If you're actually trying to get great customer service, efficiency, and all the analytics and data you need, go with Cova. Really easy decision."

Beyond point of sale. A unified retail platform.
Every Cova POS package includes our front of house tablet-based POS, back office Inventory Management, and Analytics that include scheduled reports and mobile dashboards. Arizona retailers can expand their tech stack to support their growing business with Cova Pay, Cova eComm, or seamlessly connect to industry-leading software integrations.
System Reliability
Unparalleled reliability. High-volume proven.
Cova is the only major POS system to report 9 consecutive years of 100% uptime on 4/20. The system is fast, handles Arizona's highest volume days, and scales from 1 to 150+ locations. Even if your Wi-Fi fails, Cova’s backup Offline Mode can keep lines moving.
Customer Support
Real humans, when you need them
With Cova, reaching a real human is easy. Our in-house support team of product and industry experts who understand how our tech works, how your business operates, and how valuable your time is.
Features
With Cova. Arizona dispensaries can serve both patients and adult-use customers under one roof. Cova applies the right tax treatment automatically, verifies and tracks medical card status and expiry, and applies the correct purchase limit to each customer type without asking your budtenders to remember which is which.
Cova's purchase limit gauge tracks adult-use limits of 1 ounce of flower with no more than 5 grams of concentrate, and the medical limit of 2.5 ounces per 14-day period, with automatic THC equivalency conversions across flower, concentrates, and edibles. Budtenders see remaining allowance in real time, and the system will not let them oversell.
Arizona does not contract a statewide seed-to-sale platform, so ADHS expects licensees to maintain their own adequate inventory control and recordkeeping - retained for five years. Cova enables retailers to manage records, make inventory adjustments, view daily counts, track patient, and much more.
From ACH to card-based payment options and branded gift cards, cannabis payment solutions reduce cash handling risk and consistently lift basket size. Cova Pay works as one system with the Cova POS, so payments and sales reconcile cleanly and automatically.
With Cova eComm and seamless integrations to leading ecommerce, delivery, and loyalty partners, the online menu stays synced to real inventory automatically, and marketing tools work from accurate customer data.
Cova offers industry-leading support that is 100% in-house and based in North America. Our experts in cannabis technology and retail are highly responsive, answering calls in under 30 seconds on average, with 80% first call resolution and 95% customer satisfaction.
"I recommend Cova, especially for businesses in states that aren't legalized yet. It just makes your systems and processes much more efficient. Cova's built for cannabis, so it lifts a huge weight off your shoulders when you switch over and get all these features that other software just doesn't have."

FAQ
Yes, Cova supports licensed cannabis retailers across North America, including Arizona, and our platform is built for exactly the workflows Arizona requires - dual medical and adult-use sales in one location, differing tax treatment, separate purchase limits, medical card verification, and self-maintained compliance records.
Square has directed merchants to remove CBD, hemp, and hemp-derived items from their catalogs by October 15, 2026, with affected accounts reported to close on November 5, 2026.
If you run a CBD or wellness store in Arizona on Square, you need a new POS and payments provider on a short timeline, and Cova serves CBD and hemp retail alongside licensed cannabis. Cova has spent over a decade in regulated retail and is not going anywhere. For more, read Looking for a Square Alternative? Why Hemp and CBD Retailers Should Start Preparing Now.
No, Arizona is unusual among adult-use states in that it does not contract with a third-party statewide track-and-trace provider like Metrc or BioTrack. ADHS instead expects each licensee to maintain an adequate inventory control and recordkeeping system, with records retained for a minimum of five years.
Since, there is no state system backstopping numbers, Arizona retailers have to produce accurate, defensible inventory and sales records.
Cova was built for regulated retail from the ground up, with full audit trails on every adjustment, transfer, and transaction.
Adults 21 and older may purchase and possess up to 1 ounce of marijuana, with no more than 5 grams of that being concentrate. Registered medical patients may obtain up to 2.5 ounces over a 14-day period.
Cova enforces both automatically. The purchase limit gauge shows remaining allowance in real time, applies THC equivalency conversions across product categories, and blocks transactions that would exceed the limit before they complete.
Only licensed ones, as delta-8 and other hemp-synthesized intoxicants are considered controlled substances under Arizona law and may only be sold by establishments licensed by ADHS.
Arizona has adopted delivery-to-consumer rules for licensed establishments under the state administrative code, with requirements covering how orders are received, age and identity verification at handoff, manifests, and recordkeeping. Requirements have changed more than once since 2021, so confirm the current rules with ADHS before launching a delivery program.
Cova supports delivery workflows through integrations with leading delivery and ecommerce partners, so orders, inventory, and compliance records stay connected to your POS rather than living in a separate system.
Cova helps Arizona retailers spot slow-moving inventory before it becomes dead stock, see the true margin impact of promotions, forecast reorders with days-of-supply reporting, compare performance across locations, and identify lapsing customers worth winning back. Faster transactions and Offline Mode also protect revenue on your highest-volume days.
Cannabis retailers cannot rely on traditional credit card processing due to federal restrictions. Most Arizona dispensaries use a mix of cash, compliant debit or ACH-based cashless solutions, and branded gift cards.
An integrated cannabis payment solution reduces cash handling risk, speeds up checkout, and lifts average basket size, while keeping payments and POS reconciled in one system. For a complete breakdown of the payments options available to Arizona cannabis retailers, see the Cannabis Dispensary Payment Guide.
